Birthing MothersHow Birthing Mothers Expanded from One Brand Project into a Long-Term Creative PartnershipHey Reader, One of the most rewarding parts of our work is getting to grow alongside our clients: not just designing one project for them, but helping them shape the next version of their business as their ideas get bigger, more nuanced, and reach more people over time. That’s exactly what’s happened with our client, Birthing Mothers. We first started working with their founder, Lauren, several years ago when the business was still in its infancy and needed a brand identity that could hold the emotional weight of what she was actually trying to create. Lauren had gone through her own experience becoming a mother and came away feeling like so much of the support women actually need during pregnancy and postpartum either felt inaccessible, overly clinical, or wasn’t being talked about at all. And when it came to her vision? Lauren didn’t want her body of work to feel like another overly polished wellness brand or motherhood platform built around aspirational perfection. Instead, what she was building felt much more personal than that: more thoughtful and unapologetically more honest. A place where women could feel guided and supported through a massive life transition that is beautiful, yes, but also incredibly disorienting at times. What’s been especially meaningful about this project is that the Birthing Mothers brand didn’t stop evolving after launch. As time went on, it only grew. Even though this originally started out as a branding project, it slowly evolved into a multi-phase project consisting of website design, app product design, custom marketing materials, launch assets, and a much broader digital ecosystem. We’ve also found the process to be particularly rewarding—because as we learn more as designers and business owners, we can apply it to our work with past clients who we’ve already built rapport with. Over the years, our growing project basis with Birthing Mothers has looked like:Expanding the original brand into a much larger product ecosystem as Birthing Mothers prepared to launch its first app Designing product experiences and app mockups that feel intuitive, calming, and supportive during a deeply emotional season of life Creating custom launch and marketing assets that help the brand feel integrated and cohesive across every touchpoint Building the website in multiple phases as the platform expanded beyond education only into a more immersive + intelligent support experience Continuing to support Lauren through Design Days and ongoing creative partnership as new ideas, offers, and opportunities emerged Helping the brand scale in a way that still feels deeply personal, intentional, and emotionally connected to the women it serves, instead of only caring about growth metrics And honestly, this is why we care so much about long-term creative partnerships. Because over the years, the strongest brands rarely go-to-market with fully formed outcomes from a single project. They deepen over time with the more customer interactions and experience they earn. Which means our role as designers often becomes less about “delivering assets” and more about helping clients build a world their audience actually wants to step into.
