👋 Hey, we're Charlee and Leah

Some new faces around here! We’re a two-woman midwest design studio, creating strategic brands and websites that help founders and marketing teams punch above their weight and tell their story with clarity.

Watch our team intro video here!

  • Charlee is based in Indianapolis and specializes in website design and Webflow development
  • Leah is in Chicago and focuses on branding and website design

You might be wondering: are we twins, sisters, or cousins? Nope. Not related! But we have gone undercover together at the Twinsburg festival in Ohio.

Last month we spoke at Webflow Conf in NYC
Wow. What a week. Between stepping out of our comfort zones to speak on a panel and interview on a livestream (yes, we did it!) and connecting with so many talented folks in website design and development, we left energized and full of ideas.

This month we’re sharing

  • Leah’s creative reset and what she can't stop thinking about from Webflow Conf
  • Charlee’s take on AI, AEO, and the future of search
  • A huge ChatGPT update

– Charlee + Leah

Design

Two quotes I (Leah here!) can't stop thinking about from Webflow Conf 2025.

Folks are always going to want to hear your story told your way

— Guy Yalif, Chief Evangelist at Webflow

Webflow Conf inspired a personal creative reset.

I was inspired to take a step back and think about getting back to the roots of what I love most: creating beautiful, bold brands and websites that push past safe defaults.

The job of design is to stand out, to create tension, to make people feel something.

Seth Godin’s keynote only reinforced this urge

People don't buy tasks. People buy status, affiliation and freedom from fear.

— Seth Godin, Author and marketing expert

So that’s where I’m leaning: more risk, more creativity, more spice. Because if you look and sound the same as everyone, why would someone remember you?

What Charlee Learned About AI and the Future of Search
Welcome to the era of AEO (Answer Engine Optimization), where traditional SEO rules are being rewritten in real-time.

The good news
Many familiar
onsite strategies (edits and updates to your website) still hold up. Writing for real users, adding comprehensive FAQs, and maintaining solid backend fundamentals like schema markup and robots.txt files.

Area for opportunity

  • 25% of web pages still lack basic metadata. This is low-hanging fruit for quick improvements!
  • Getting your business cited on Wikipedia, Reddit, and YouTube can have an outsized impact. Don't deploy thousands of bots on Reddit, that will not work. Lurk thoughtfully, corporate speak doesn’t work.

The switch in how people search is a genuine opportunity for smaller businesses to compete with industry giants in ways that traditional SEO never allowed.

Eye-Opening Stats

  • The average SEO search query is 3 words, but AI queries average 23 words. Meaning users are getting more context-rich, relevant results
  • Better title tags with targeted keywords remain essential. Don't overlook the fundamentals.
  • Adding on page schema can drive fast impact (often up to 25% of increased traffic in a couple of days vs SEO traffic that would take longer.)
