Sharpened pencils ✏️

September has always felt fresh, full of potential and sharpened pencils. This month feels especially full of potential as we meet with passionate people who are working on really interesting projects. Lots to look forward to on the horizon!

The end of our year is getting booked, and we're starting to look at 2025. Need some design work done before the end of the year? Grab time to chat here.

Charlee & Leah

From our #random slack channel

• Branding for Friend, an AI tamagotchi. Deviates from the typical techy AI aesthetic (imo into dystopia). Their approach: "How do we make this feel new, but not too new?"

• The Design Hall of Shame. All about manipulative design tactics: think how it's REALLY hard to cancel a subscription

• Trending: funeral branding

🔦 CLIENT SPOTLIGHT

CoApp is a browser based tool that helps businesses create safeguards with existing practice software.

We designed a brand and product for CoApp that felt forward-thinking, trustworthy and approachable. We kept the design elements clean and found moments to insert delight.

Brand Design

Delightful brand details include:

  • the "C" and "o" are connected, nodding to the significance behind CoApp's name. CoApp comes from "co-application" and signifies working in harmony with other practice management applications
  • "Co" "is sitting on top of a platform, visually representing what the product does.
  • Modern color palette that includes a fresh and zesty bright lime and more grounding blues, teals and greens.

Product Design

We ensured the brand would translate well into product design by doing a lot of iterations, pressure testing and applying the brand to the product early on. We worked closely with key stakeholders and developers to design a product that has an excellent user flow and is intuitive to use.

CURRENTLY

🎾 Leah is scheming on how to go back to the US Open next year. It was SO fun, highlights included watching doubles, spotting player fashion trends and going into every brand activation.

🛥️ Charlee is soaking up the last of summer at Boat Day, an annual tradition in her friend group. Boat Day includes a full day on a pontoon with lots of floating and custom bucket hats (designed by Charlee, ofc!)
