Olympic state of mindπŸ…

Emerald is staying busy this month, making good progress on some projects launching this fall! We've also been trading notes on who we're cheering for, especially in some of the newer sports like breaking (great Daily episode about the history of breaking) and skateboarding. Nothing feels better than watching incredible athletes perform at the highest level (here, here and here) from our couch.

Aaaaand she stuck the landing!!

β€’ Have you heard of the great exhaustion (an actual trend forecasted by WGN)? Client shoutout: Propello's podcast Education Uncharted's episode about teacher burnout was great for educators and noneducators alike!

β€’ Whispers of the power of small design studios: "small teams are often experts in their field, and if you pick up the phone you’ll be able to speak to that expert directly." We love seeing other small design studios succeed πŸ’ͺ

πŸ”¦ CLIENT SPOTLIGHT

Point of View Story makes therapeutic films for those impacted by harm and violence in the sex industry.

Point of View Story was chosen to be part of the Emerald Foundation for 2024. Every year our team selects an organization that is doing meaningful work and gives them some design love.

POVS was finding it challenging to tell their story and struggled to communicate their purpose on their website. We supported the POVS team with a brand strategy, visual brand identity (logo refresh, color palette, image styling), website design, copy & development and marketing materials (email templates, social media templates and one pagers).

We approached the brand strategy holistically. Collaborating with brand strategy and copy expert Kat Neis we started by crafting a mission, vision and values, identifying brand differentiators, voice guidelines and specific language for each of their audiences.

The logo highlights the organization's name "Point of View", visually representing a shift or change in perspective. It is also a nod to film spotlights and rays of light and new beginnings.

Visually it was important for the POVS brand to feel warm & uplifting. Color is a great way to communicate, it's often people's first impression of a brand.

β€œTheir ability to truly understand our work was impressive - the nuances of our work and sub-culture so the language and vocabulary resonate with this community.”
β€”Mark Steenbarger, Point of View Story Founder & Filmmaker
